Good for a quick history and major economic exports
Quick facts about every state -- including flag and state bird. Also a bit of history. I particularly enjoyed the economy symbols that showed major exports.

We home school so I bought this to use when we do our lessons on the states. So far just looking through it and making lesson plans it looks like it will be the perfect addition to our 50 states lessons. I love the details about each state and the pictures are great. Of course with National Geographic I knew I couldn't go wrong! I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this atlas.

Update - we've had this for almost 3 years and both of my kids still pull it out frequently.

Love this atlas. We use it often in our homeschool. We had a NatGeo student atlas that covered all the continents without going into detail on the US, and it seemed to apply to high schoolers, I guess. I wanted something my elementary student could use as well that was more focused on our country. So I bought this Kids version. Much better for the younger crowd. Big bright pictures, nice glossy thick pages. Highly recommend.

Note: Like many people, I rely heavily on Amazon reviews before making almost any purchase, online or in brick-and-mortar stores. I am always honest with my reviews. If I love something, I shout it from the rooftops. And if I hate it, I have no problem telling you that too. If you found this review helpful, please click the button below :-)

My son loves this book. He just turned 7 and asked for it for his birthday after taking this book out of the library repeatedly. He loves reading fun facts about each state and studying the maps of the states. This book is well put together and easy for a child to read and understand but still gives a ton of info. Great book for kids into geography!

I got this for my fifth graders who are studying United States geography. The atlas provides a good overview, but is sometime not as detailed as I had hoped. The layout and design is very appealing to kids, and my kids enjoy using it and also perusing it just for fun. It has come in handy at different times when they were studying or working on a project for school. I want my kids to be able to use books to find information instead of instantly turning to online sources. This is still an important skill, even in today's digital world.

Bought this book for our 6 year old grandson. Grandpa travels for work. So when we see the grandson, he and Grandpa talk about all the states he goes in. This book is very cool and tells you so much. I have learned things about our own home state that I had no idea about. It is very helpful and will pay off when he is in school and they talk about geography. The book fascinates him.
I think I should buy one for myself!!!!

This atlas has been great for homeschooling. It's simple but extremely informative, and my kid has actually enjoyed learning about the country and different states! She gets the info she needs to go along with our other workbook pages, but without getting too overloaded in the process.

I love atlases, and this was no exception. Very fun to read, and the extra reading on each page was great. Very Informative. Great for children and adults. Just because it says "Children's atlas" does not mean it is just for children. Have fun with it.

Not a complicated atlas: it permits youngsters and beginners to start exploring the multiple dimensions of U.S. geography.
Plus, it's a pleasant atlas to have hanging around for adults, as well.
We can always open up a page or 2 and refresh our memories about such and such state, or geographical region.
A great thing to have on the coffee table or in the WC ;-)
